Molinaro, Riley set to debate at NewsChannel 13 studio tonight

The candidates for the 19th Congressional District will debate Thursday at NewsChannel 13 in Menands.

First term U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro, a Republican, and attorney and former U.S. Senate Aide Josh Riley, a Democrat, are running for the hotly contested seat.

Democrats only need a few seats to flip the House from Republican control.

The debate is hosted by NewsChannel 13, in partnership with WAMC Northeast Public Radio, PBS station WMHT, and the Times Union.

NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland will moderate, with Raga Justin of the Times Union’s Capitol Bureau, WAMC News Director Ian Pickus and Shantel Destra, the managing editor of WMHT’s “New York Now,” also asking questions.

The race is a rematch from 2022, which Molinaro narrowly won by less than 2%.

The district goes from the Massachusetts border across the Catskills and along the Southern Tier to Ithaca.

The debate begins at 7 p.m. You can watch it on NewsChannel 13 and on WNYT.com.
