Police: Man stabbed victim in front of cafe

At around 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a fight in front of Café Hollywood on Lark Street. A 42-year-old man had a stab wound to his neck, police said.

An Albany man was arrested after police said he stabbed someone who was trying to break up a fight.

At around 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a fight in front of Café Hollywood on Lark Street. A 42-year-old man had a stab wound to his neck, police said.

Albany Police said Shameek Thomas, 39, was in a fight with someone else and stabbed the 42-year-old man.

Officers saw Thomas with the knife and arrested him.

The victim was treated on scene and taken to Albany Medical Center.

Thomas has been charged with assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and sent to the Albany County Jail.
