Dog dead after Albany fire

A dog is dead after a fire in Albany Thursday night.

A captain with the Albany Fire Department said fire fighters took three dogs from the home at 29 Stephen Street. A veterinarian is still treating one.

Albany Fire Chief Joseph Gregory said the fire started at about 10:30 p.m. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 10:38 p.m. The flames were under control by 10:53 p.m.

Gregory said one person was home at the time of the fire and evacuated safely. No humans were hurt.

According to Gregory, the first floor of the building has significant damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
