Schenectady man faces drug charges after chase

A Schenectady man is accused of leading police on a chase with drugs in his vehicle.

State Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Nashaan A. Howard, 40, on Oct. 28 around 7:30 p.m. on the Thruway in Bethlehem for a traffic violation. Howard kept driving. Howard allegedly was speeding, driving recklessly, and throwing items out of the vehicle.

The chase ended on the Thruway in Albany, when troopers used a tire deflation device. Howard was arrested and had more than 2 kilograms of packaged cocaine, police said.

Howard was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, unlawful fleeing a police officer, and traffic violations. He was arraigned in Albany City Court and sent to Albany County Jail without bail.
