Former Rep. John Sweeney plays pivotal role in Trump’s re-election
Former Congressman John Sweeney played an important behind-the-scenes role in the election of Donald Trump.
The Troy native and former representative in the 20th District is an attorney who has been crisscrossing the seven battleground states for the past several months on behalf of Republicans, addressing reported election irregularities.
He and a team of lawyers, called the Election Integrity Unit, jump into action whenever there’s a discrepancy.
Sweeney was in Philadelphia last night, overseeing the vote in that critical battleground.
Former President George W. Bush dubbed him “Congressman Kick A**” for Sweeney’s no-nonsense approach.
“When there isn’t the other side, the balance it off, and there isn’t the daylight shined on the circumstances that are occurring in the election process, then bad things can happen,” said Sweeney. “We made sure this time that that didn’t happen.”
Sweeney, 69, has successfully battled cancer and open-heart surgery.
