Troy Police: Bones found are of woman who went missing from Glenville in 2013
The bones found in the area of Burden Pond Preserve belong to a woman who went missing from Glenville in 2013, Troy Police said Thursday.
Amanda King, 28, was reported missing in November 2013. She was last seen on Oct. 16, 2013 at the Conifer Park Rehabilitation Center where she was being treated for a heroin addiction, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database.
The Glenville and Albany police departments have investigated the case.
The remains were found on the afternoon of Oct. 20 in the preserve around Mill Street and Campbell Avenue in Troy.
Dental records and the DNA identified King. Albany Police and the New York State Police Cold Case Unit are helping Troy Police in this investigation.
A missing person’s report was filed. Some people told police that she was seen in Albany, where she was known to frequent, before Thanksgiving of that year.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Troy Police at 518-270-4771 or submit a tip online at TroyPD.org.
The area is close to where a search was conducted in 2022 for Jaliek Rainwalker, the 12-year-old boy from Greenwich who went missing. However, a dental comparison ruled Rainwalker out.
