Whitehall residents can once again take showers and run appliances that use water, but they are urged to conserve their use, the village said.

A water emergency remains in place as the village’s water source, Pine Lake, is running low. The village said in an update on Thursday morning that the pump system has been successful in pumping water from Pine Lake. However, the village is still in a water deficit situation.

Residents are urged to limit length of showers and avoid filling bathtubs full, run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads to limit daily use.

The water is not yet safe to drink. All tap water should be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute and then cooled before using.

Bottled and non-potable water will be available at the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company until 8 p.m. and will continue while the boil water advisory is in effect. People who are homebound and need water delivered are asked to call the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 518-499-0720.
