Arrest made in Rotterdam Walmart shots-fired incident

Rotterdam Police tell us Sunday morning that they have arrested 24-year-old Manief Mullins of Schenectady in connection to the shots-fired incident at a Walmart.

The incident happened around 2:50 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart on Altamont Avenue.

Police say were called to the store for a report of gunshots. Walmart Loss Prevention officers told police on the scene that they attempted to stop a male suspect from shoplifting.

Through investigation, it was determined that Mullins refused to stop for security and ran away from the store. As he fled, he fired multiple rounds from a handgun, said officials.

Police say no injuries were reported.

Authorities say the suspect, Mullins, was taken into custody without incident. Police add that he is actively a NYS Parolee.

Mullins was charged with the following:

  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • First-degree robbery
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

Police say Mullins was processed on the following charges and sent to the Schenectady County Jail awaiting arraignment.
