Police: Bennington County resident went nearly 100 mph

A Bennington County resident is accused of driving nearly 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Vermont State Police said Leinad Sarah Desouza Belotti was traveling on Route 7 in the town of Shaftsbury on Dec. 13 around 10:40 p.m. She was clocked at 99 mph, according to police.

Belotti was issued a citation for negligent operation and one for interstate speed totaling 2 points and penalty of $655. Belotti was ordered to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Feb. 3.
