State Police buy gifts for kids at Albany Med
State Police were out shopping Wednesday for kids at the Albany Medical Center Children’s Hospital.
Due to some generous donations, the officers were able to hit up Walmart and pick up toys and goodies for kids that need them the most.
“So our focus is on the children that are at Albany Med during the holiday season,” said State Police spokeswoman Trooper Stephanie O’Neil. “Unfortunately, they don’t have a choice to be with their family and their friends, so we try to bring them some holiday spirit.”
They use any surplus items for hospital staff to hand out throughout the year if they need to put a smile on a kids’ face, O’Neil added.
Each child who was well enough did have the opportunity to come and shop for the toys themselves. They even got to meet members of the police department and the K-9s.
