The Rensselaer Common Council has unanimously passed a law banning a proposed incinerator in the city.

Waste to product company Harbor Rock had proposed building a facility in the city to turn sediment into usable products.

According to the Rensselaer Environmental Coalition, the law will significantly reduce the potential for environmental harm, and decreases the potential for reduction in property value.
