Man dead after being hit by car on I-90 in Canajoharie

A person is dead after being struck on the shoulder of I-90 in Canajoharie.

State Police responded to a report of a car-pedestrian collision just before noon on the westbound side of I-90.

Police said a westbound vehicle driven by David Bonaparte, 61, of Rome, stopped on the shoulder. Bonaparte got out of the vehicle and was struck by another westbound vehicle.

Bonaparte had severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle stopped, called for help and has been cooperative with the investigation.
