Lawsuit filed against Miss Hall school in Berkshire County

A former student of Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield is suing the boarding school and its former dean of students.

That former student, now in her 30s, is accusing the former dean of being complicit in allowing physical intimacy between staff and students.

In this lawsuit, which was amended on Thursday, Jan. 9, that woman says she was sexually abused and raped by her teacher while at Miss Hall School. Before the alleged abuse happened, the plaintiff accuses that teacher of grooming and engaging in sexual misconduct with her.

She said it happened between 2007 and 2010, and several administrators knew or should have known about the misconduct and did not protect her.

NewsChannel 13 reached out to the school and they sent this statement:

“Out of respect for former students involved, and to maintain the integrity of the legal process, we will not publicly comment on the details of pending litigation.

The Miss Hall’s Board of Trustees has authorized an external, neutral investigation into allegations of improper sexual conduct toward MHS students by school employees. Consistent with our commitment to gain a full understanding of the facts, that investigation is ongoing.

We are fully committed to learning the truth about what occurred, so that we may extend support to anyone in our community who was harmed and continue our efforts to safeguard the wellbeing of our students today and in the future.”
