Police: Man shot during fight outside Fritz’s Taproom

Rotterdam Police say a man was shot during a fight outside Fritz’s Taproom on Hamburg Street early Saturday morning.

Police say the call came in just before 2:00 AM.

Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate any victim or involved parties.

A short time later, a man walked into the Ellis Hospital Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The man declined to provide officers with any information in regard to how he received his injury.

Police eventually determined that the incident began as patrons from Fritz’s Taproom, who are known to each other, had a verbal altercation outside of the bar in an adjacent parking lot.

The altercation escalated into a physical fight, and during that fight, an unknown suspect shot one of the involved parties.

The male victim was last listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Rotterdam Police Detectives at 518-355-7397 ext. 2104.
