More than 10,000 warm hats have been donated to children battling cancer.

Hatsgiving collects hats here in the Capital Region, and donates them to pediatric cancer facilities across the country.

They donated more hats than ever before, they said. That includes donations for 105 hospitals, cancer centers, and community groups.

The effort was started by Jeremy Wernick back in 2012, when he was just 8 years old.

At the time, Jeremy was a student at Forts Ferry Elementary School in Latham, and he wanted to help people who lose their hair during cancer treatments.
