Albany Med scientists get $2M grant for organ failure research
Scientists at Albany Medical Center are getting some money to help with important medical research.
Scientists at Albany Med are getting $2 million to help study the role of blood vessels in organ failure.
They will be looking at endothelial cells, which are crucial to regulating blood flow and preventing blood clotting.
Those cells play a key role when one or more organs start to fail, said Alejandro Adam, the professor leading the study.
The research team says it hopes the grant will allow them to develop new therapies that prevent organ damage and does not impact the body’s immune system.
