Potential for ice jams a concern in Schenectady, Saratoga conties

Potential for ice jams a concern from the Rexford Bridge to Vischer Ferry.

Officials are monitoring an ice jam in Niskayuna that could raise water levels in Schenectady.

There is currently a risk of flooding near the Rexford Bridge near Lyons Park, police said. There are reports of minor flooding in the Alplaus area of Schenectady County.

Officials are continuing to monitor for flooding along Schenectady’s riverbank areas, especially near SUNY Schenectady and the Stockade, according to Schenectady Police.

Schenectady Police said no flooding has been observed in the Stockade. Freemans’ Bridge is still below the minor flooding threshold. No alerts or warnings have been issued.

People living in low-lying areas should be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
