Fort Ann man accused of welfare fraud

A Fort Ann man is accused of welfare fraud.

Leonard M. Wells, 38, did not report income he received, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. That caused an overpayment of $4,763 in benefits between July 1, 2023 and Nov. 30, 2023, investigators said.

Wells was charged with grand larceny. He was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment Court and is due in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.
