Cohoes police officer saves stranded deer

COHOES – A Cohoes police officer is getting a lot of praise for saving a deer, stranded on the frozen Hudson River.
Officer Matthew Putnam made his way out to the ice around 7:30 Sunday morning.
Video shows him grabbing the deer and shuffling slowly to shore, bringing the terrified animal with him.
He got a call from someone who spotted the stranded deer on the water behind the Admiral’s Walk Condos.
