Is it a cold, or COVID? If your child shows symptoms, when should you take them to the emergency room, versus just going to their doctor?

If your child is struggling to breathe or is very dehydrated, get them to the ER at your local hospital right away, but for most symptoms like fever, coughs, sore throats and runny noses, call your pediatrician first. They may send you to an urgent care center or maybe tell you how to treat things at home.

You also don’t necessarily need the ER if your child has less dangerous symptoms, and just needs a simple COVID test.
