Lake George hopes elaborate ice castle displays help winter business

Lake George is hoping that the village is also a winter place to be. It’s building Ice Castles, hoping to attract visitors. Ice Castles is set to open in January.

The new attraction will combine with Lake George Winter Carnival and Winterfest.

The owner of Ice Castles promises that the experience with its tunnels, slides and caves will be unlike anything around here.

"We do strive to bring magic to all of our guests. That’s kind of our stated goal," explained Kyle Standifird. "You enter, you kind of leave the world outside of those walls a little bit and kind of enter a magical space where creativity and imagination can flourish."

Ice Castles Lake George will be the sixth in the country and the first in New York.
