Let the children get treats this weekend, but be sure they are not tricked. The New York Attorney General’s Office is warning about products that look like ordinary snack foods and candy, but actually contain marijuana and high levels of THC.
The attorney general’s office shared pictures of some snacks, including ones that resemble Oreo Cookies and Sour Patch Kids. These products are not legal and are unregulated in the state.
The way to spot the difference in the products is by checking to see if the package has a small "THC" branding in the corner.
If the snacks are accidentally eaten by children, the office says the high levels can lead to an accidental overdose.
If your child becomes sick from eating the snacks, call poison control.
