PFOA found in two additional homes in Poestenkill
Testing has found two more homes in Poestenkill had results over the state’s limit for PFOA in their water.
The homes are located near Algonquin Middle School, where the chemical was found earlier this year.
So far, Rensselaer County has tested 17 private wells in Poestenkill. Four are at or above the standard of 10 parts per trillion. Nine wells showed no signs of PFOA, and four wells are below the standard.
A third round of testing is underway to try and locate the source. Those homes that tested high will be provided bottled water until a treatment system can be installed.
