GUILDERLAND – The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York is ready to collect donations this holiday season. It kicked off its 37th annual holiday hunger appeal at Crossgates Mall.
Volunteers collect money every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., so they can help people in need of food during the holidays.
The booth is located on the lower level of Crossgates, outside the Apple Store.
Molly Nicol, the CEO of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, says while the need for food leveled off this summer, they’re seeing an increase once again.
"If you’ve been in the grocery stores lately, you can see how the price of food has gone through the roof, the price of fuel has also gone through the roof. Couple with that our supply chain problems, so now we have folks coming back to us again, many, many more people in need and that’s why we’re coming to you, to help us with the holiday hunger appeal," said Nicol.
Each dollar donated goes a long way, providing four meals for those in need.
