Saratoga Springs ski shop celebrating 80 years in business

SARATOGA SPRINGS – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly 20% of small businesses fail within the first year. By year five, half of those companies are out of business, and only about 30% of those remaining will make it to their 10th anniversary.

Cathy and Jack Hay, owners of The Alpine Sport Shop in Saratoga Springs, call themselves lucky. They’re celebrating 80 years of business.

Cathy is carrying on the family legacy her parents began with the business back in 1941.

The Hays say two simple words set them apart – "customer service."

Located near Skidmore College, they’re open Monday through Saturday.
