State police seek owner of dog found dead in Rensselaer County

State police are trying to find the owner of a dog found dead in the town of Sand Lake.
Someone called police on Friday after finding the deceased dog near the power lines off Stewart Lane.
The dog, which appears to have died from a gunshot wound, is described as a neutered male German short haired pointer, with brown on the head and buttocks.
The dog is mainly white with brown spots, and there is a large cyst on his front left paw.
Police don’t know how old the dog was.
