The Adirondack Red Wings were the fabric of Glens Falls for 20 years. They won four Calder Cups along the way.
The team was the top minor league affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. They played their first American Hockey League game at the Glens Falls Civic Center in the fall of 1979 and stayed until 1999.
The building and the team were founded by Ned Harkness.
Harkness was already a hockey legend in the Capital Region, coaching RPI to a national championship in 1954.
