Head coach John Audino from La Salle Institute won’t be the new coach of the Albany Empire.

Albany Empire owner Antonio Brown announced Audino as the new head coach on Sunday, after coach Tom Menas resigned. However, Audino told NewsChannel 13’s Rodger Wyland he hadn’t made a decision yet.

Then Audino told NewsChannel 13 on Monday he has decided not to take the position. Audino said his commitment to La Salle already takes up too much of his time.

Brown has now told NewsChannel 13 the new Empire coach will be Pete Porcelli. That news was also confirmed to NewsChannel 13’s Rodger Wyland by Porcelli himself.

Porcelli is on staff with Audino at La Salle. He is a longtime high school football coach in the Capital Region, with experience at Lansingburgh, Hoosic Valley and Watervliet.

Porcelli also played with the Albany Firebirds and “Touchdown” Eddie Brown, Antonio’s father.
