Capital Region high school athletes compete against the best at Nike Cross Nationals

Several Capital Region high school cross country runners competed at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon Saturday. Two girls teams qualified, the Class A state and Federation champion Bethlehem eagles. The Shenendehowa girls also competed, anchored by former NewsChannel 13 Athlete of the Week Leyla Bhusri, who finished third at the state championships. Bethlehem finished in fifth place as a team and Bhusri finished 59th out of 200 runners.


The boys side featured, Class C state champion Carter Flowers of Schalmont. He finished 119th overall. And Saratoga’s Thomas Isenovski, who finished second at the Federation meet, came in 50th place.
