Gerry McNamara was officially welcomed on Tuesday as the new Siena men’s head basketball coach.
McNamara replaces Carmen Maciariello, who was recently fired after a dismal 4-28 season for the Saints.
McNamara spent 15 years on staff at Syracuse University, most recently as assistant coach.
“To give me this opportunity, I’m so blessed, so honored. I understand the rich tradition here. I don’t take it lightly,” said McNamara. “I’m here to win. Simple. That’s who I am,” he said.
“I’m going to go out; I’m going to recruit, and I put together a roster that we feel like is competitive immediately.”
