Medical experts say COVID is entering ‘endemic’ phase

The CDC’s latest map shows high levels of new COVID cases in nine local counties: Saratoga, Warren, Washington, Schenectady, Fulton, Montgomery, Albany, Rensselaer and Bennington.

The Albany School District is once again strongly encouraging everyone, students and staff to wear masks inside all school buildings.

However, Dr. Anthony Fauci has some encouraging news for the country. He says while the virus isn’t gone, we are transitioning from a pandemic to an endemic.

Capital Region Pediatrician Dr. James Saperstone says while COVID numbers here are ticking up again, he believes things won’t be as bad as they were last fall and winter.

Dr. Saperstone says endemic means it will be a seasonal issue that we will have learn to live with. He encourages people – including kids – to get immunized. However, he says there is light at the end of the tunnel.
