More federal funding is going toward SUNY schools.

Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $15 million in funds for SUNY to install hundreds of electric vehicle charging stations at its campuses statewide.

“Electric vehicles are booming in popularity, and for this industry to succeed we need to make charging your car as easy and convenient as filling up a gas tank,” Schumer said in a statement.

“This $15 million federal investment will greatly expand EV charging infrastructure on SUNY campuses across New York, helping to reduce carbon emissions and put the brakes on climate change,” Gillibrand said in a statement.

The senators said this project will support the growing demand for EV use, lower air pollution, and reduce New York’s environmental footprint.
