22 NY community colleges receiving big grant to support adult learners

SUNY Adirondack, Columbia-Greene, Fulton, Montgomery, and SUNY Schenectady community colleges are getting some new money from NY state.

Several community colleges in the Capital Region are getting a big boost to support their adult learners.

SUNY Adirondack, Columbia-Greene, Fulton-Montgomery, and SUNY Schenectady community colleges are just some of 22 schools across the state receiving money.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $1.1 million total in grants will be given to these schools. Each of the above schools will receive $50,000.

The funding will help implement wide ranging action plans designed to help more adult learners access educational opportunities that lead to upward mobility.

It’s part of a larger plan the governor had to help students 25 to 55 years old attend community college for fields including health care, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, and green jobs.
