Advocacy groups want state to protect voting rights against Trump’s latest executive order

Several advocacy groups are calling on New York leaders to protect voting rights in the wake of President Donald Trump’s latest executive order.

More than 30 organizations, including Common Cause, sent a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul and other lawmakers asking them to resist an order from Trump that alleges that noncitizens are voting in elections.

They want state leaders to support policies that expand ballot access and join litigation to challenge the executive order and expand support for county boards of elections.
