Albany County appoints member to St. Rose redevelopment board
Albany County has announced the people who may help redevelop the properties of the former College of Saint Rose.
A bill to create a seven-member authority to serve on the Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority was signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul earlier this year. Four members are appointed by the county executive, two by the chairperson of the county legislature and one by the Albany mayor.
McCoy said his appointees are: Dominic “Nick” Mazza, a former county administrator for Livingston County; John Nigro, president of Nigro Properties; Alejandra Paulino, secretary of the New York State Senate and Alison Walsh, vice president for real estate development and planning at Empire State Development.
Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said her appointments are Jasmine Higgins and Sarah Reginelli.
Higgins has served as partner and chief operating officer of GLS, an economic development and public affairs company. Reginelli has been in leadership roles as president and CEO of Capitalize Albany Corporation.
Before any plans can move forward, College of St. Rose Director of Communications, Denise Dagnino said the Pine Hills Land Authority has to bid on properties owned by the college, then that offer has to be accepted by the College’s Board of Trustees.
“The Authority has the right to bid on the properties listed for sale by the real estate advisor hired by the College’s Board of Trustees, which ultimately will decide the future use of the College’s campus and properties,” said Dagnino. “That said, the College looks forward to continuing to work with the County and all other parties interested its campus properties.”
