Albany Police were successful recruiting potential candidates at an event on Saturday, police said.

The department held an open house to give people a chance to ask questions and find out what it is like to work as an officer or a dispatcher.

The department received 16 applications to become police officers and four to become dispatchers, according to a police spokesperson.

There are more than 80 open positions.
