Albany woman accused of stealing over $17,000 in SNAP benefits
An Albany woman is accused of stealing $17,289 in illegal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
Chante Rivers, 30, intentionally never reported that her children’s father lived in the same household, investigators said.
The fraudulent benefits were obtained between Nov. 1, 2020 and Oct. 31, 2021, investigators said.
Rivers was charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud.
She was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released on her own recognizance.
