All charges dropped against man who allegedly left ex-Niskayuna supervisor racist voicemail

Charges have been dropped against a man who is accused of leaving a racist voicemail against the former Niskayuna town supervisor.

Osman Rasul allegedly left a message for former Supervisor Jamie Puccioni. He used the “N word” twice at the end of the message.

Rasul had initially been charged with a hate crime.

A misdemeanor charge against Rasul was dropped earlier this month. Now a judge has also dropped a felony hate crime charge.

“Obviously, this behavior is absolutely disgusting, but it is not a crime,” said Nicolaus McDonald, bureau chief for the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said just because Puccioni felt threatened does not mean she was in any actual danger.
