Mayor Frank Rossi posted a nearly 2,000-word explanation on Facebook Sunday night, describing his frustrations as the village works to renovate Wiswall Park.
Mayor Rossi said he is working to have the park ready in time for the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course this June.
A bid for that work was submitted and approved by the board, but a former trustee noticed the mayor’s brother worked for that contractor.
The mayor said this caused an issue for the board, and now that contractor is considering pulling out of the work after a “scorched earth” approach.
The mayor said if work does not start soon, Wiswall Park will not be open in time for the Belmont, which would be a huge missed opportunity for Ballston Spa.
