Bars could close earlier in Saratoga Springs
A long-sought adjustment of the bar closing times in Saratoga Springs may be getting a step closer to reality.
Saratoga Spring Supervisor Matt Veitch told the Saratoga Springs City Council that the Board of Supervisors plans to hold a public hearing in March on moving back the closing time from Saratoga County bars from its current time of 4 a.m.
The proposal would set the closing time for 2 a.m. from May 1 through Oct. 31 and 3 a.m. from Nov. 1 through April 30.
The date for the public hearing has not yet been set.
The next step after that would be to send the proposal to the New York State Liquor Authority for approval.
This comes after issues in downtown Saratoga Springs, most notably when an off-duty Vermont sheriff’s deputy got into a shootout on Broadway in November 2023.
