Bennington man accused of stealing guns

A Bennington man is accused of stealing guns from a Pittstown home back in June. Police arrested Leon Lovelace on Tuesday, and released the information on Thursday

Lovelace, 29, allegedly stole three firearms and money from the house without the victim’s knowledge, State Police said.

One gun was found in North Adams, Mass during an unrelated investigation.

Police found Lovelace in Bennington on Sept. 5 and officially arrested him on Tuesday. He was brought back to New York, and charged with four counts of grand larceny, arraigned at Pittstown Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Anyone who has information about the other two stolen guns is asked to call State Police at 518-457-6811 or email crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.

Lovelace has ties to New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Georgia and may have transported the firearms out of state.
