The Guardians of Al-Fitrah held its annual Love Thy Neighbor celebration on Saturday. The community organization is dedicated to supporting people in need.
This charity event provided free dinners, produce, bread, toys and gift cards for residents in need.
This was a collaboration between Bishop Avery Comithier and County Legislator Sam Fein, all to lift each other up.
“It’s all just about charity, groceries, fresh produce. It’s really the good things that people really need and just making sure that we’re getting things out to people in need and really showing that people are valued and we care for them,” said Fein.
The Guardians of Al-Fitrah regularly holds large community events to help hundreds of families. The organization is planning to give support this year to 350 apartments and families in the Ida Yarbrough Housing Complex.
