Cohoes students plant 100 trees for Earth Day

Dozens of Cohoes High School students planted trees along a busy road Tuesday in honor of Earth Day.

Dozens of Cohoes High School students planted trees along a busy road Tuesday in honor of Earth Day.

The group, which included members of the Honor Society, Student Council and The Community Service Club, were digging holes or spreading mulch.

Capital Roots spearheaded this effort, thanks to USDA Forestry funds under the Inflation Reduction Act to beautify and create healthier communities.

The event celebrates the 50th anniversary of Capital Roots, and marked the start of the group planting 1,250 trees around the region in the next four years in Cohoes, Troy, Rensselaer, Watervliet, Menands and Green Island.
