Comptroller: Woman stole over $26K from Montgomery County ambulance company while CFO

A woman is accused of stealing more than $26,000 from a Montgomery County ambulance company when she was chief financial officer.

Shannon Countryman, 46, was charged with grand larceny and forgery, according to the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

Countryman was CFO of the St. Johnsville Ambulance Corp. from 2004 to 2023.

A joint investigation between State Police and the comptroller found that she wrote checks that were purportedly for personal and sick leave use she was not entitled to, investigators said.

Countryman was arraigned in St. Johnsville Town Court and is due back in court on March 26.
