Fake bills hitting businesses in Berkshire County

The NewsChannel 13 Weekend Team presents a report of local and national news events, along with the latest local weather forecast and sports updates.

Fake dollar bills are going around in the Berkshires.

According to our media partners at The Berkshire Eagle, there has been at least three cases just last month of people using counterfeit bills to make purchases at local small businesses.

Counterfeit money is fake currency that looks like real money but is illegally produced.

The Eagle says these types of bills are submitted to the Secret Service in Boston for review.

If the bills are real, the bank reimburses the customer. However, if the bills are fake, the customer loses the money.
