Ellis Hospital announced that its long-planned parking project will start on June 1.

The plan includes demolition of the Nott Street garage in July. Construction of a 210-spot surface lot will follow.

The new lots is expected to have less light pollution, along with better landscaping and drainage.

There are 700 parking spaces on campus that are able to absorb the cars currently using the Nott Street garage at peak.

Ellis plans to have the new parking lot open by late November.
