Broadalbin truck fire believed to be accidental

Broadalbin truck fire believed to be accidental in nature.

The cause of a fire that destroyed a truck in Broadalbin on Sunday night was accidental, investigators said.

The Broadalbin and Perth fire companies responded to a report of a vehicle fire at around 9:15 p.m. on Midline Road near Ernie’s Lane, according to Fulton County Fire Coordinator Steven Santa Maria. The fire was immediately put out.

The fire chief interviewed the person who reported the fire, which was in a vehicle following the truck on fire. Flames appeared to be under the vehicle, they said.

By the time the driver pulled over, flames were coming up through the floorboards and beginning to come out of the engine compartment.

The exact cause has not been determined.
