Former South End Grocery gets new owner
The Advance Albany County Alliance has acquired the former South End Grocery Store.
The property at 106 S. Pearl St. has sat vacant after an earlier effort to open a grocery store in that part of the city failed.
Albany County purchased the property. The AACA said it will work with the neighborhood and community groups to determine the type of businesses or services that could go into this space.
“We recognize the importance of ensuring that this space is utilized in a way that brings value to the South End,” said Advance Albany County Alliance CEO Kevin O’Connor in a statement. “We are truly committed to the South End and our goal is to put something in this location that benefits the community directly.”
The site was once home to a McDonald’s.
