Girl Scouts earn badges in cybersecurity at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- A group of about 80 Girl Scouts visited UAlbany’s ETEC research and development complex to earn three different cybersecurity badges on Saturday, March 9. Scouts ranged in age from first grade through 12th.
Older Scouts toured cyber lab spaces and spoke with professors at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC). They also experienced a cyber disaster exercise the CEHC’s Operations Command Center.
Younger Scouts participated in different cybersecurity activities and CEHC’s Makerspace which houses 3D printers, laser cutters and soldering irons as well as other emerging tech and hardware.
