Much of the community centers around Glens Falls Hospital.

It’s the largest hospital between here and Montreal, and it treats 45,000 people in the emergency room every year. It is also the city’s largest employer.

As NewsChannel 13 reported last year, the emergency department will be completely revamped. It hasn’t been updated in 30 years.

When it’s done, there will also be a significant amount of new space.

Some of that new space will go toward an expanded mental health unit.
